The Jackson softball team won three games to clinch first place in the Cor Jesu Academy Round-Robin Tournament.

The Jackson softball team won three games to clinch first place in the Cor Jesu Academy Round-Robin Tournament Saturday in suburban St. Louis.

The Indians defeated Affton 9-0 and Rosati-Kain 5-2 before beating host Cor Jesu Academy 10-4 to remain undefeated on the day.

Brooke Whitledge smacked a home run, a triple and three doubles to lead Jackson (10-6). Molly Crader belted two triples and Demesha Huddleston had a home run for the Indians in the tournament.

Jackson's Mallory Jones was the winning pitcher in all three games.

Notre Dame Invitational

Saxony Lutheran fell to St. Pius 18-2 in the tournament championship.

Earlier in the day Saxony Lutheran defeated Ste. Genevieve 4-2 to advance the title game.

Natalie Schlimpert got the win in the circle. Abby Hadler was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs while Ashlyn Collier was also 2 for 3.

Delta went 1-1 in the tournament.

The Bobcats avenged a loss to Scott City from earlier in the week when they took the first game 2-1 against the Rams. Machela VanGennip hit a triple for Delta. Bobcats freshman Jenna Henson drove in the winning run in the sixth inning. Macy Hall went 2 for 2 at the plate to pace the Rams (6-9).

Delta pitcher Ciara Coomer struck out five batters.

The Bobcats dropped their second game to Sikeston 4-3. Delta's Jenna Henson went 2 for 3 at the plate.

The Notre Dame boys cross country squad captured second place in the Class 3 division while the Woodland boys team claimed fourth in the Class 1-2 category in the Hancock Place Invitational in suburban St. Louis on Saturday.

The Kelly boys finished in 14th place in Class 1-2 while Cape Central boys came in at 23rd place in Class 4.

Campbell tournament

The Leopold baseball team defeated Van Buren 8-0 in the opening round of the Campbell tournament.

Zach Elfrink got the complete-game win for Leopold. He gave up just two hits and struck out 10 batters while walking one.

Casey Graham went 3 for 4 at the plate for Leopold while Elrink, D.J. Keim and Cord Cooper all added two hits.

Leopold also defeated Campbell 2-1 in eight innings in a regular-season game on Saturday.

Elfrink drove in Graham in the top of the eighth inning to score the winning run.

Joe Elfrink got the win on the mound. He pitched the final two innings, striking out five batters and allowing one hit.
