Ryan Schlick scored off a pass from Law Duncan in the opening half, and the Jackson defense made it stand up in a 2-0 victory over host Notre Dame in boys soccer action Wednesday.

"The boys played really well tonight," Jackson coach Zack Walton said. "They played with intensity."

Duncan added some insurance early in the second half.

Austin Baker recorded two saves for the shutout.

"We missed a couple chances to score," Notre Dame coach Brad Wittenborn said. "They played really well against us."

James Holloway took the loss in goal for the Bulldogs.

Jackson improved to 13-6, while Notre Dame dropped to 11-10.

VOLLEYBALL

Scott City 16 26 25 Perryville 25 24 17

The defending Class 2 state champion Rams rallied past the host Pirates.

Scott City improved to 26-5-2, while the Pirates fell to 28-5 as both squads played their final pre-district matches.

Katie Hogan led the Rams with 20 kills, including six kill blocks, and nine digs.

Mikah Simpson had 12 kills, including three kill blocks, and nine digs.

Andrea Gray recorded 19 assists and four digs, Sydney Short had 17 assists and eight digs and Mallory Reddick added 21 digs in the win.

JV -- Perryville won 25-14, 25-15.

The Indians fell to 11-17 after dropping a tight home match.

Laurie Clippard led Jackson with seven kills. Kylie Seyer had 13 digs and six kills, Kasey King had five kills and five blocks and Kelsey McDowell recorded 23 assists.

JV -- Jackson won 25-16, 25-11.

St. Vincent 25 25 Meadow Hts 19 13

Alanna Steinbecker smacked six kills and Chelsie Boxdorfer put down five to go with 25 digs in the Indians' home win.

Miranda Unterreiner recorded 35 digs for St. Vincent.

Jillian Mills paced the Panthers with seven kills, while Whitney Welker added three kills and a block. Heather Dietiker chipped in four kills for Meadow Heights (18-8).

The Bulldogs won a three-team meet at the Central bubble, scoring 123 points to beat Central (104) and Saxony Lutheran (14).

Central's Jordan Gramling (50 freestyle, 100 backstroke) and Caleb Coots (100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke) were the only swimmers to win two individual events.
