Sophomore Autumn Reid netted a game-high 19 points to help lead the Jackson girls basketball team to a 60-41 home win over Farmington in its season debut Tuesday.

Sophomore Cassidi Tomsu finished with 16 points and sophomore Kayla Keith added 14 points for Jackson (1-0).

"We looked good," Jackson coach Tyler Abernathy said. "Defensively, we played hard. We shot the ball well."

Jordan Martin led Farmington (0-1) with 13 points.

The two teams will meet again in the opening round of the Farmington Tournament at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Farmington is seeded fourth and the Indians are seeded fifth.

Kelly Morton scored a game-high 16 points, but it was not enough as the host Tigers debuted with a loss at home.

"We started out slow in the first half, but we played well in the second half," Central coach Sherri Shirrell said. "Our intensity level was up. ... We just started out slow and had some first-game jitters. We didn't handle the ball well and had a lot of turnovers."

Kassidy Pannier netted 11 points, including three 3-pointers, for Central (0-1).

Kelsey Kingsland bucketed 13 points to lead De Soto (1-0).

Josie Long netted 35 points as the host Cardinals avoided a scare to improve to 2-0.

Shelby Sawyer added 16 points and Rachel Poole bucketed 12 points for Woodland.

"We fouled way too much," Woodland coach Robert Stein said.

A total of 58 fouls were committed in the high-scoring nailbiter.

Sierra Frazier scored a game-high 36 points for Charleston (0-1).

Meadow Heights returns to action next week in the Potosi Invitational. The Panthers, seeded seventh, are slated to take on No. 2 Park Hills Central at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The Bravettes jumped out to a 33-19 lead at halftime, but strong play by the Eagles in the second half allowed Oran to squeeze out the win at home.

Mikaela Blissett scored a game-high 24 points for Scott County Central (0-1).

Brothers Peyton and Charlie Montgomery combined to score 42 of Chaffee's 63 points as the Red Devils debuted with a road win.

Peyton scored 22 points and Charlie added 20 points for Chaffee (1-0). The Red Devils will be back in action next week in the Oran Tournament. Chaffee, seeded second, will take on seventh-seeded Richland at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Justin McGuire scored 11 points to pace the Panthers (0-1).

Meadow Heights will play in the Current River Challenge at Van Buren this weekend. The Panthers will play Summersville at 11 a.m. Friday and Koshkonong at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
