High school roundup: Jackson captures four titles

The Jackson wrestling team picked up four championships on its way to a third-place finish at the Panther Invitational meet Saturday.

Levi Rayburn (119 pounds), Jordan Reisenbichler (125), Levi Hobeck (145) and Ryan Marble (171) all earned championships for the Indians.

Kodi Byrd (112), Jacob Colyott (140), Blake Hooe (152) and Lucas Slinkard (HWY) all finished third for Jackson.

Jeremiah Scott (103), Tyler Rush (135) and Cody Morgan (16) all took fourth for the Indians, who return to action Friday at the Class 4 District 1 meet at Northwest High School in Cedar Hill, Mo.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Delta 54, Shawnee, Ill. 49

Machela VanGennip scored a team-high 23 points to lead the Bobcats to the road win.

Samantha Bartels and Tori Burton added 15 points apiece for Delta (11-8).

"Tori Burton had seven rebounds in that second half and really played well inside for us," Delta coach Randy White said.

Shawnee dropped to 17-5.
