Just over a week after the Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament title got away in a heartbreaker, the Jackson boys basketball team reeled in a tournament championship with a win over Lindbergh on Saturday, 61-51, in the Flyers' own Dave Sinclair Memorial Invitational on Saturday in St. Louis.

Stephen Irons paced the Indians (9-6) with 18 points, while Cameron Hester added 14 and Jacob Smith had 11. Irons scored 14 of his 18 points in the final quarter, helping launch a decisive 22-point fourth period as Jackson pulled away. Lindbergh (6-6) entered the fourth with a one-point lead.

The Flyers were led by Greg Lahm's 24 points.

Bouncing back after a Friday night loss, the Bulldogs defeated the host squad in the consolation final of the Houlihan's Fightin' Irish Invitational in Springfield, Missouri.

Blake Bauwens led Notre Dame (7-7) to victory with 17 points, while Carson Ketcher pitched in nine points and Dawson Dohogne provided eight points down low.

Garrison Howell led all scorers with 18 points for the Irish.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Saxony Lutheran 68, Lutheran North 52

Down by five points at halftime, the Crusaders launched a second-half blitzkrieg to drop visiting Lutheran North in Jackson, Missouri.

Saxony Lutheran (11-2) standout Brianna Mueller scored 33 points in the game, shooting 12 of 18, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range. Grace Mirly pitched in 14 points for the victors and Ali Galemmo had 10.

The Crusaders held Lutheran North (5-3) to just 16 points in the second half, including only four in the final period of play.

The St. Louis-based Crusaders got a team-high 20 points from Renetha Dickson, while Jordyn White added 14.
