Senior Lexi Vandeven threw four perfect innings as the Leopold softball team opened its season with a 16-0 rout of visiting Scott County Central on Tuesday.
Vandeven struck out six batters in the game.
"She threw well," Leopold coach Keenan Kinder said. "The ones they did put in play, the defense did a good job of backing her up."
Emily Seiler paced the Wildcats (1-0) with three hits, while Patience VanderMierden had a triple and Shelby Schreckenberg had a double.

Jackson's Tyler LeGrand shot a 3-over par 38 to earn the medalist honor and help the Indians to a season-opening win at a four-team meet at Kimbeland Country Club.
Jackson finished with a 163 total to finish 16 strokes ahead of runner-up Cape Central, which had a 179 total, and 18 shots clear of Notre Dame and Saxony Lutheran, which both totaled 181.
Kobe Franklin led Central with a 41, Jonathan Bell and Nathan Hulshof each shot 43 for Notre Dame, while Anton Rhodes paced Saxony with a 42.
