All the local high school events reported Tuesday to the Southeast Missourian.

The Leopold boys basketball team saw its strong season end Tuesday in the semifinals of the Class 1 District 3 tournament.

Second-seeded Eminence beat the third-seeded Wildcats 48-44 in a battle of state-ranked teams in Poplar Bluff.

Leopold (21-6) led 19-17 at halftime but fell behind 36-28 entering the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats trailed by 10 points but used a late 7-0 run to pull within three before their comeback came up short.

"We had a wide-open look to tie but Kyle Stroder just missed," Leopold coach Andy Beck said.

Stroder, the Wildcats' standout junior, led all scorers with 19 points.

"We haven't played that bad since Christmas," Beck said. "But overall it was a good season."
