High school roundup: Delta girls christen season with home win

Machela VanGennip opened her senior season with a 35-point performance as the Delta girls basketball team routed visiting Dongola (Ill.) 70-22 in its season opener Monday night.

Katie Nance added 10 points and eight rebounds. Tia May also had eight rebounds, while VanGennip had eight steals.
