The defending Class 2 state champion Scott County Central boys basketball team turned up its offense in the second half and overcame a one-point halftime deficit to defeat South Pemiscot in the Class 2 District 1 semifinals Tuesday night in Campbell, Missouri.
Senior Jeffery Porter led the Braves with 21 points, while Tyus Banks and Deven Blackman finished with 15 points apiece. Deantrell Beard added 12 points for the third-seeded Braves (20-8), who will face top-seeded Bloomfield (25-3) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the championship game.
Steven Wilburn scored a game-high 27 points for second-seeded South Pemiscot, which led 30-29 at halftime. The Braves outscored the Bulldogs 23-18 in the third quarter to take a 52-48 lead into the fourth quarter.
"They came out and punched us in the mouth and it about got away from us real quick," Scott Central coach Matt Cline said. "We got to moving and cutting and we scored some buckets. Finally that second half we moved on our offense a little more."
Bloomfield defeated host Campbell (16-9), the fourth seed, in the other semifinal.
"Bloomfield is tough," Cline said. "They've been the favorite all year. Everybody's known they were going to be here since last year. We're glad to be there."

Senior Cole Shelby drained 20 points as the third-seeded Bulldogs' season came to an end with a one-point loss to the second-seeded host Redwings in a semifinal of the Class 1 District 3 Tournament.
Dallan Stotts chipped in 13 points for Zalma, which maintained a one-point lead at halftime and a two-point lead after the third quarter. Zalma finished its season with a record of 14-13.
Trent McBride finished with a game-high 21 points to lead Eminence (12-14), who will face top-seeded South Iron (20-7) for the district title at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The Panthers eliminated fifth-seeded Marquand 66-49 in an earlier semifinal, ending the Tigers' season at 15-11.

Senior Al Young recorded a double-double with a game-high 30 points and snagged 12 rebounds to lead the Tigers in the road win over the Trojans.
Zyshon Mallory contributed 11 points for Cape Central (19-6), which clung to a two-point lead at halftime before a strong second-half performance in which the Tigers held the Trojans to single digits in each frame.
Dalton Whitley netted 18 points and Noah Jacobsen finished with 12 points to pace Potosi (10-15).
Cape Central closes out its regular season on the road Friday with SEMO Conference nemesis Dexter (14-10, 4-3 SEMO Conference).

Blake Bauwens scored 18 points as the Bulldogs finished the regular season with a high-fouling conference loss to the Bearcats on the road.
Ross Essner added 11 points to pace Notre Dame (12-14, 4-4 SEMO Conference), which trailed by only one point at halftime. The Bulldogs were plagued by fouls, committing a total of 25 and allowing the Bearcats 37 attempts (26 made, 70.27 percent) at the charity stripe.
Jason Jarrell busted a game-high 20 points to lead Dexter (14-10, 4-3). Ethan Flowers and Gabe Jackson netted 15 points apiece for the Bearcats, who will wrap up the regular season with conference foe Cape Central (19-6, 5-2) on Friday.
