High school roundup: Chaffee girls basketball team topples South Pemiscot

Julia Sutterfield recorded a double-double with a game-high 29 points and 12 steals and also grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Chaffee Red Devils girls basketball team to a 60-40 victory over the host South Pemiscot Bulldogs in Steele, Missouri.

Kylie Wilhite added 10 points for Chaffee (9-2), while Loren Clifton had 12 points to pace South Pemiscot (0-9).

DeSoto's Faith Sherrow busted a game-high 30 points, 24 of which came from behind the arc, as the Dragons notched their 10th win of the season with a road rout of the Pirates.

The Dragons posted a 36-12 lead at halftime and never allowed the Pirates to come close. Kelsey Kingsland had 16 points for DeSoto (10-2).

Kylie Bilek scored nine points to pace Perryville (4-7). Ahnie Hoff had eight points, six rebounds and four blocks, and Emma Nelson tallied six points and nine rebounds for the Pirates.

Blake Reynolds scored 32 points to lead the Indians to victory over the Hornets in the first round of the Lindbergh Round Robin Tournament in the suburban St. Louis area.

Jackson led 20-16 at halftime and outscored Hillcrest 16-6 in the third quarter, which Jackson coach Darrin Scott said was key to the Indians' victory.

Braden Wendel netted 11 points for Jackson (8-3). The Indians will play Soldan International Studies at 5 p.m. today in the second round of the tournament.

Quinn Poythress recorded a game-high 20 points and had seven steals as the Bulldogs were victorious over the Pioneers in the first round of the 1st Annual Houlihan's Irish Invitational in Springfield, Missouri.

Tanner Shively and Trenton Schumer tallied eight points apiece, and Blake Bauwens dished out four assists for Notre Dame (9-3).

Ryan Briscoe scored 14 points, and Alex Moore added 13 points for Duchesne (6-5).
