Cody Payne went 2 for 4 and drove in a run to help the Chaffee baseball team post a 4-2 home win over East Prairie on Tuesday.

Payne recorded the final three outs on the mound.

Daniel Dooley earned the win by striking out six and walking none over six innings.

Chaffee (17-4) hosts a doubleheader today where it likely will face two of the better pitchers in the area. The Red Devils will face Notre Dame ace Cody Heisserer at 4 p.m. then Oak Ridge standout Brett Thomas at 6 p.m.

Tanner Schabbing scored the game-winning run on a wild pickoff attempt at second base in the Bobcats' first win of the season.

Schabbing reached first on a walk then stole second. He proceeded to get too far off the second base bag, which prompted Meadow Heights' catcher to attempt the pick off at second.

Collin Schabbing struck out 14 in seven innings of work to earn the win.

Brent Garland struck out 11 in a losing effort.

Garland also went 2 for 3 with a double, while Dustin Doublin had two hits.

Josh Douglas had a home run in the loss.

Junior Storm French had a goal and an assist, while Abby Lappe scored on a penalty kick to lead the Indians to the home win.

Ashley Wingerter netted a goal in the 80th minute for St. Vincent (16-4), which defeated the Bulldogs for the second time this season.

Katie Mattingly recorded six saves in the win.

Olivia Roth scored Notre Dame's lone goal on an assist from Shelby Beussink.

Madison Buelow had eight saves for Notre Dame (6-7).

Sikeston 2, Central 0

The Tigers lost on the road.

Apple Thomas had six saves in goal in the first half, while Tat Reagan recorded six saves during the second.

Central, which will open Class 3 District 1 play Monday against Seckman in Poplar Bluff, fell to 3-11.

St. Pius 2, Saxony Lutheran 0

The Crusaders were shut out at home.

Saxony Lutheran will host North County today.
