All the local high school events reported Monday to the Southeast Missourian.

Chaffee scored eight runs in the second inning and rode the two-hit pitching of Cody Johnson and Jared Walker as it reached the championship game of the Class 2 District 3 tournament with a six-inning 14-4 victory over Saxony Lutheran on Monday.

The host and top-seeded Red Devils, who improved to 21-7, will play Bloomfield in today's 4 p.m. championship game. The title contest had been scheduled for Wednesday, but was moved up at the request of Bloomfield, which upended No. 2 seed Bernie 1-0 in the other semifinal.

Johnson allowed four earned runs but did not allow a hit over 4 1/3 innings. He struck out eight and walked five.

Walker gave up two hits over the final 1 2/3 innings and struck out two.

Jimmy Golden had a pair of doubles for the Red Devils, while Cody Payne, Lane Henson and Jared Walker all finished with two hits. Walker, Devon Yahn and Cole Hanna all had one double.

Walker and Hanna both finished with three RBIs.

Losing pitcher Chase Steffens allowed eight hits and eight runs in one inning. Steffens had two RBIs at the plate.

Class 1 District 3

Leopold 14, Viburnum 1

Sophomore Zach Elfrink allowed just one hit as the top-seeded Wildcats reached the championship game of the Class 1 District 3 tournament with a five-inning semifinal rout in Caledonia, Mo.

Elfrink struck out eight and did not walk a batter or allow an earned run.

Leopold banged out 16 hits, including six in an eight-run first inning. The Wildcats also took advantage of three walks and two errors as they sent 13 batters to the plate in the frame. Leopold added four runs in the second and two in the fourth.

Austin Bucher, Cameron Davis, Joe Elfrink, D.J. Keim, James Jansen and Dillan Vandeven all had two hits for Leopold, which improved to 14-6-1. Bucher, Joe Elfrink, Vandeven, Cord Cooper and Jansen all had doubles. Bucher finished with four RBIs and Joe Elfrink had three.

The Wildcats will face Naylor, a 6-5 winner over South Iron, in the championship game at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Class 3 District 2 Scott City 13, Kelly 3

Kelly struck first, but the Rams answered repeatedly in a five-inning victory in the Class 3 District 2 tournament semifinal at Charleston, Mo.

Scott City scored four runs in the second and held a 4-3 lead entering the bottom of the fourth, where it broke loose for seven runs. The Rams added two runs in the fifth to enact the 10-run rule.

Eric Urhahn allowed four hits in a complete game, improving to 6-1. He struck out two, walked three and allowed two earned runs.

Zach Carlyle had a triple among his two hits and finished with three RBIs. Brett Dirnberger also had a triple and two hits, while Trent Pobst had a double. Jonathan McFall notched three hits, while Travis Phillips and Urhahn both had two.

Phillips and Ryan Fortner both knocked home two runs.

Scott City will play Clearwater, a 17-3 winner over Charleston, in the championship game at 4 p.m. today.

Oran junior Seth Ressel pitched four shutout innings and belted a home run as the top-seeded Eagles advanced to the championship game of the Class 1 District 2 tournament in Charleston, Mo., with a six-inning victory.

Ressel struck out three and walked two before yielding to Hunter Schlosser, who allowed one hit over the final two innings. Schlosser obtained five of his outs by strikeout.

Ressel, Alex Heuring and Thomas Trankler all had two hits for Oran, which improved to 17-5.

Oran will face Oak Ridge at 4:30 p.m. today.

Lance Rohde allowed just one hit and struck out 11 in 6 2/3 innings, and the Blue Jays overcame an early 2-0 deficit with a five-run second inning to advance to today's district championship game.

"That really sparked us," said Oak Ridge coach Bo Akers. "We had the bases loaded in the first inning but couldn't get a run across. It was nice to get on the board and get ahead and let Lance get to work."

Jake LeGrand, Kelby Brown and Ryan Below each had a pair of hits for the Blue Jays (11-9).

St. Vincent saw its season end in the semifinals of the Class 2 District 4 tournament in Ste. Genevieve.

Top-seeded Valle will play No. 2 seed Bismarck in today's championship game.

Class 2 District 1 Central 3, Sikeston 2

Abby Schupert scored all three Central goals as the host and fifth-seeded Tigers kept their season alive with a comeback victory in the first round of the Class 2 District 1 tournament.

Schupert opened the scoring 18 minutes into the game, depositing a pass from Faith Tegel. Sikeston, the No. 4 seed, scored a pair of goals in the next six minutes and took a 2-1 lead into halftime.

Schupert tied the game 10 minutes into the second half on another pass from Tegel, then scored the game-winner 22 minutes in on a pass from Emily Sheets.

Goalkeeper Brooke Anderson made 13 saves for Central, which improved to 8-14-1.

Central will play No. 1 seed Farmington in the semifinals at 5 p.m. today.
