Chaffee improved to 10-0 behind the shutout pitching of senior Cody Payne as the Red Devils baseball team defeated Leopold 1-0 at home Thursday.
The teams combined for just seven hits as Chaffee managed the game's lone run in the bottom of the sixth.
Payne struck out two in seven innings and allowed three hits.
Zach Beel had a double for Leopold in the third inning.
Zachary Elfrink suffered the loss, allowing four hits and one run in six innings.

The Eagles scored nine runs on eight hits and fended off an attempted comeback from East Prairie. Seth Ressel, Dustin Gebhardt and winning pitcher Hunter Schlosser all had a double for Oran.
Schlosser, who had two hits, tossed three scoreless innings.

Oak Ridge used a five-run second inning to gain a 6-0 lead which it would not relinquish in a road win.
Blue Jays starting pitcher Andrew Puchbauer struck out three batters and did not allow a run in five innings. Puchbauer also went 2 for 3 at the plate and drove in a run to help his own cause. Kelby Brown added three hits for Oak Ridge.
Jake Thele had three hits for Meadow Heights, which fell to 0-6.

Seiler's triple scored two in the second inning and tied the game, 2-2. Vandeven's came in a four-run sixth inning and drove in two runs to give Leopold its 7-6 lead.
Vandeven finished her complete game by retiring the side in order in the seventh inning.
