The Chaffee baseball team had two shutouts on Friday to advance to the championship game of the Oak Ridge Invitational Tournament.
The Red Devils blanked Leopold 4-0 in a game resumed Friday after it was suspended Thursday to inclement weather. Andrew Brown recorded six strikeouts and walked two batters in going the distance to get the win on the mound for the Red Devils.
Ryan Lewis pitched a complete game and took the loss for Leopold. He allowed three earned runs, struck out four and walked five. The loss to the Red Devils sent the Wildcats to a consolation semifinal where they fell 8-5 to the host Blue Jays. John Gray hit a home run for Leopold (2-7) while Tristan Graham pitched 2 2/3 innings to sustain the loss on the mound. He gave up five runs (four earned) on six hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
Tyee Curry got the pitching win and also doubled for Oak Ridge (3-6). He threw 4 1/3 innings and allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits. He tallied four strikeouts and one walk. Nathan Bolin got the save, throwing a no-hitter with four strikeouts and one walk in the final 1 2/3 innings. Bolin also tripled, doubled and batted in four runs to lead the Blue Jays to victory.
Chaffee thumped Woodland 15-0 in five innings in its semifinal to reach Saturday's championship game with defending Class 1 state champion Bell City. A.J. Owens belted a triple and Austin Copeland batted in two runs to help propel the Red Devils (9-2) to victory. Alec Bogenpohl went the distance on the mound, recording five strikeouts and walking four batters.
Tyler Womack was the losing pitcher and also had a double for Woodland (3-7). He threw 2 2/3 innings and allowed seven runs (five earned) on five hits. He had one strikeout and walked two batters. The loss sent the Cardinals to the third-place game with Saxony Lutheran. The Crusaders (7-3) beat Zalma 5-1 in the final game of pool play to advance to the third-place game.

The Rams were unable to score a single run against the two-time defending Class 2 state champion Warriors to settle for second place in the weather-delayed championship game of the Ste. Genevieve/Valle Catholic Opening Day Tournament.

Chris Loida went the distance to get the win for Valle Catholic (10-1). He recorded three strikeouts and walked three.
Cole Wood hit a double to produce the only extra-base hit of the game for the Warriors.

Garrett Siebert hit two doubles and drove in two runs as the Bulldogs notched their third consecutive conference victory with a five-inning road romp of the Bearcats.
Ethan Hunter went the distance on the mound to get the win for Notre Dame (5-1, 3-0 SEMO Conference). He gave up one earned run, struck out two and walked one batter. He also added a double and three RBIs for the Bulldogs.
Chandler Young suffered the pitching loss. He threw 2 2/3 innings and allowed 11 runs (eight earned) on eight hits. He struck out four and walked four batters.
Spencer Owens had a home run to get the only run for Dexter (4-7, 0-3).

Mackenzie Altenthal blasted a triple and drove in three runs to lead the Cardinals in the road win over the Warriors in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.

Krista Rhodes got the save, pitching the final 2 1/3 innings in which she gave up five runs (four earned) on one hit with one strikeout and three walks.
Hope Green batted in three additional runs for the Cardinals.
Celina Mueller went the distance to sustain the loss for Valle Catholic. She allowed nine earned runs, struck out five and walked 12 batters.

Cassidi Tomsu netted three goals to lead the Indians in the road victory over the Wildcats.
Lauren Welker recorded two assists and one goal for Jackson (9-1). Natalie Miller scored the other goal while Megan Clippard and Randa Norman each had one assist for the Indians.
Goalkeeper Sam Schnicker had two saves to get the shutout.
Union fell to 4-2 with the loss.

Lauren Carron scored both goals as the Indians blanked the Knightettes to place third place in the Windsor Tournament in Imperial, Missouri.
Kalli Seabaugh and Sarah Kapp each had an assist for St. Vincent (5-1).
Goalkeepers Courtney Brewer had six saves while Brooke Lottes made three saves to share the shutout.
Farmington fell to 4-6.
Brock Kurre carded a 10-over-par 45 to earn the medalist honors as the Pirates won the three-team match with the Lancers and Indians at the Perryville Country Club.
