All the area high school results reported Monday to the Southeast Missourian.

Chaffee shut down Advance's seventh-inning comeback and posted a 5-4 home victory Monday in high school baseball action.

Advance scored two runs in the seventh, but Andrew Dooley was able to obtain the final out and notch the save for Chaffee (2-0).

Red Devils starter Alex Davie (1-0) pitched five innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Alex Crowe hit a triple, while Cody Payne and Andrew Terhune both went 3 for 3 with two doubles.

Daniel Dooley went 2 for 3 with a double.

Grant Gray had a double for the Hornets, while Ryan Moses went 3 for 4.

Kyndel Page took the loss. He allowed four earned runs and 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Joe Elfrink (1-0) allowed six hits and one unearned run in six innings. He struck out seven and did not walk a batter.

Bell City's Cody Kight had two doubles, while Trey Geiger went 2 for 3.

Katie Mattingly made three saves in goal as the Indians won their season opener at home.

Holly Blandford netted the lone goal of the first half, while Storm French, Abby Lappe and Kayla Seabaugh netted goals in the second half.

Seabaugh had two assists, while Lappe and Courtney Heberlie both had one.

SOFTBALL Meadow Hts. 19, Oak Ridge (4 inn.)

Bailey Koyle had two home runs and four RBIs in the Panthers' season-opening win at home.

Danielle Welker had five stolen bases and three RBIs.
