The Central boys reached the championship match of the Class 2 District 1 tennis tournament Tuesday with a 6-0 victory against Mehlville in the semifinals at Central High School.

The Tigers won all six singles matches. Pablo Jaramillo, Alvaro Jaramillo, Jake Wright, Austin Shupert and Ryan Watts all swept their opponents.

Central will play Oakville for the championship at 4 p.m. today.

The Notre Dame boys tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the Class 1 District 9 tournament with a sweep of host Liberty in Mountain View, Mo.

The Bulldogs won the first five singles matches. Adam McCoy, Bryan Brown, Webb Marshall, Will Kinder and Mason Seesing all swept their opponents.

Notre Dame will play Richland in today's semifinals.

Saxony scored 12 runs in the top of the seventh to rally from a seven-run deficit.

Gabe Bohnert hit a grand slam during the outburst.

Trent Steffens went 3 for 3 with a double and four RBIs, while Clay Roth had three hits and five RBIs. Jon Winkler added three hits for Saxony (14-8).

Alex Davie belted a home run and finished with four RBIs for Chaffee (21-3).

Daniel Dooley and Layton Tenkhoff both had three hits, while Trevor Cannon, Cody Payne and Cody Johnson all had two hits. Cannon, Payne, Dooley and Alex Crowe each had a double.

Payne struck out 14 and earned the win on the mound.
