High school roundup: Central baseball reaches consolation final of conference tourney

Winning pitcher Chase Hagerty hit two doubles to lead fifth-seeded Central to a 6-5 victory in 10 innings over eighth-seeded Dexter in a consolation semifinal of the SEMO Conference tournament on Saturday.

Trevor Pobst, the winning pitcher, added a triple. Pobst threw one inning and gave up two runs on two hits. Pobst got the save for Hagerty, who pitched for the first nine innings for Central (8-13) and recorded nine strikeouts.

Austin Aldridge went the distance for Dexter. Cody Neldon had a double to pace the Bearcats.

Dexter (6-10) defeated New Madrid County Central for seventh place in a game later Saturday.

Central will face Jackson at 2 p.m. Monday for fifth place at Capaha Park. The Indians defeated New Madrid County Central 11-1 in Saturday's other consolation semifinal.

Winning pitcher Eric Uhrahn had three hits, including a pair of doubles, to help the host Rams to victory.

Uhrahn threw a complete game and allowed two earned runs on four hits, struck out eight and walked two.

Isiah Berry had two hits and Zach Carlyle added a double for Scott City (9-11).

Ty Householder took the loss for Kelly. He pitched one inning, walked one batter and gave up two hits and one run.

Levi Alsup, Kyle Fitzgerald and Brenton James all had a double for the Hawks. Jacob McClain had two hits.

Seth Ressel and Jacob Priggel each had two hits, including a double, for the Eagles.

Chance Tenkhoff took the loss on the mound for Oran (11-7). He pitched five innings and allowed six earned runs on 11 hits.

Lane Spencer was the winning pitcher for Neelyville (13-4). He threw six innings, gave up no earned runs on four hits, struck out three and walked one.

Braden Dennis hit his fifth home run of the week in the win for Neelyville, which is ranked eighth in Class 2.
