Central trailed most of the way as the Tigers lost in the consolation semifinals of the SEMO Conference boys basketball tournament Thursday in Sikeston, Mo.

James Lane led seventh-seeded Central (2-2) with 21 points and Kevin Casasola added 16 in the Tigers' 67-60 loss to Charleston.

Deonte Jones scored a game-high 23 points for sixth-seeded Charleston (3-2), which advanced to today's consolation final against No. 5 Jackson.

Charleston led 41-27 at halftime and 56-40 early in the third quarter. Central, which trailed by double figures virtually the entire second half, cut the deficit to six points with 15 seconds left but got no closer.

Delta advanced to the tournament title game with its 54-22 victory against Kelly.

Senior Taylor Smith paced the Bobcats with 21 points, while freshman Machela Van Gennip added 13.

Delta enjoyed a 29-11 advantage at the intermission.

The Bobcats, the No. 2 seed, will face top-seeded Scott City in Saturday's 4:30 p.m. title game.

Woodland advanced to the consolation final with a 48-42 win against Sikeston.

Taylor Steckman led the Cardinals with 15 points. Woodland will face East Prairie in Saturday's 1:30 p.m. consolation final.
