The Bernie baseball team came away with a 9-1 win over visiting Leopold on Tuesday.
The Mules trailed 1-0 after the top of the first inning before tacking on three runs in the bottom half of the inning, four runs in the third and two runs in the fourth.
Trey Kirkpatrick finished 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs to lead Bernie (16-5) at the plate, while Austin Beck added a pair of hits, including a double.
Blake Beacham collected the pitching win for the Mules, allowing one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Corbin Hunt and Gavin Brown each contributed a scoreless inning of relief for Bernie.
Simon Elfrink took the loss on the mound for Leopold (3-11). He allowed nine earned runs, gave up nine hits, walked two and struck out one in four innings of work.
The game was called after five innings due to severe weather in the area.
Evan Landewee had six kills and eight assists, but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs fell to the host Golden Griffins.
Hunter Tucker added five kills for Notre Dame (9-9), while Sam Dohogne contributed three kills.
