Cole Nichols pitched a perfect game as second-seeded Bell City baseball team cruised to a 20-0 victory over Richland in the first round of the Stoddard County Conference Tournament on Monday in Bell City, Missouri.
Nichols struck out 10 batters in a mercy-rule victory that ended after four innings. He also went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs.
Austin Hicks and Nate Finney each went 3 for 4, while Peyton Maddox was 2 for 4 with a double. Finney had three RBIs, while Hicks had two.
Jesse Smith added four more RBIs and finished 2 for 4.
The Cubs (12-1) will play No. 3 Bloomfield in a quarterfinal today at home.
Bloomfield defeated Advance in another first-round game.
The Hornets gave up three runs to the Wildcats in the third and could only manage two hits.
Dawson Mayo took the loss. He gave up two earned runs and struck out six in six innings.
Tim Hector picked up the complete game victory for Bloomfield, striking out 12 and allowing just one walk.
Hector and Noah Vandiver both went 2 for 3 in the win.

Rachel Baker's RBI single in the sixth inning of a game that featured 35 runs proved to be the game-winner for the Cardinals in a first-round win in the Stoddard County Conference Tournament.
Woodland (8-9) trailed Bloomfield by three runs heading into the sixth but brought 12 batters to the plate, scoring eight runs on five hits and two walks to take the lead for good.
MacKenzie Altenthal earned the win in relief for the Cardinals. She took over in the second and struck out six and gave up four earned runs.
Altenthal also provided a base-loaded triple in the second. The Cardinals had five extra base hits.
Fourth-seeded Woodland will visit top-seeded Advance in a quarterfinal today.
