Austin Hicks smacked a double for the only extra-base hit of the game, as the Bell City baseball team notched its 10th win of the season Wednesday with the 6-0 victory over host Kelly.

Hicks also went the distance on the mound to get the win for Bell City (10-2). He recorded 10 strikeouts and walked no batters.

Ty Householder took the loss. He pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up four runs (two earned) on five hits. He struck out two batters and walked none.

Householder and Wyatt LeDure each had a hit for Kelly (6-8).

Ross Essner hit a double and got on base all of his four times at the plate, as the host Bulldogs rebounded from a loss to Poplar Bluff the previous night to defeat the Wildcats.

Noah Brown was the winning pitcher for Notre Dame (8-2). He threw five innings and gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits. He had one strikeout and walked three batters. Essner got the save, allowing three hits and striking out two batters in the final two innings.

Colin Prather sustained the loss on the mound for Anna-Jonesboro (6-8-1). He pitched four innings and allowed five runs (three earned) on eight hits. He had two strikeouts and no walked batters.

Sean Plott added one RBI for the Wildcats.

Blake Overfield and Jacob Shoemaker drove in two runs each for the Eagles.

Zach Cureton took the pitching loss for Woodland (3-9). He threw two innings and gave up seven runs (five earned) on four hits. He walked six batters and had no strikeouts.

Paige Mills suffered the loss in the circle for Meadow Heights (3-7). She pitched two innings and allowed 10 runs (eight earned) on eight hits. She had one strikeout and walked five batters.

Celina Mueller was the winning pitcher. She threw three innings and gave up eight earned runs on six hits. She had one strikeout and four walks.

Saxony Lutheran's Karsten Short finished eighth individually with a 12-over-par 84 to help lead the Crusaders to a fourth-place team finish in the 6th Annual Old Settlement Invitational at the Ste. Genevieve Golf Club in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.

Anton Rhodes finished three strokes behind Short with an 87 to finish 10th for Saxony Lutheran.

Andrew Mudd carded a 92 for St. Vincent, as the Indians placed 12th in the team standings. Perryville's Connor Ireland carded a 99, as the Pirates placed 10th overall.

North County's Logan Spray received the medalist honors with an 8-over-par 80 for the Raiders.

Potosi edged the host Dragons by one stroke to win the tournament.

Goalie Katie Nash made 19 saves for De Soto (1-6).

The Pirates resume pool play at 6 p.m. Friday against Maplewood-Richmond Heights (5-1).

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Notre Dame 25 25, Bayless 23 18

Evan Landewee recorded 13 assists and nine kills to lead the Bulldogs in the sweep of the visiting Bronchos.

Blake Dunlap tallied nine assists and seven kills for Notre Dame (9-3). Sam Dohogne added five kills for the Bulldogs.

Bayless dropped its record to 3-9-1 with the loss.
