Notre Dame scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and that was all the Bulldogs needed Thursday.

Pitching ace Nikki Peters made that stand up as the Bulldogs slipped past visiting Jackson 2-0 in a softball game that featured just one error.

The Bulldogs improved to 16-3 and the Indians fell to 7-11.

"Both teams played really well," Notre Dame coach Jeff Graviett said. "It was a very good game."

Peters allowed five hits, struck out six and did not issue a walk.

Jackson freshman hurler Sophie Wunderlich was also impressive. She allowed four hits, fanned three and walked one.

Christina Scherer drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first, stole second and scored on a double by Tiffany Wood.

A single by Jessica Westrich sent Wood to third and the pair pulled off a double steal, with Wood coming home.

Wood went 2 for 3 to lead Notre Dame's offense.

Kayla Keith paced Jackson by going 3 for 3.
