Scott Wittenborn scored two goals and Tyler Cuba had a goal and an assist as the eighth-ranked Notre Dame Bulldogs (10-3-1) defeated 12th-ranked Westminster 3-1on Saturday.

Wittenborn scored a unique goal seven minutes into the game when, on the run, he received a free kick from midfield and he raised his foot behind him and flipped the ball over his shoulder for the score. Matt Popst got the assist.

Three minutes into the second half, Wittenborn headed in a corner kick off the foot of Cuba. Cuba scored the third goal on a Dustin Houck assist.

"We're playing well a bit inconsistent lately, but that was a good win," said Notre Dame coach Brad Wittenborn. "We've been down last couple of games, and getting an early goal was key."

Notre Dame's junior varsity (6-1-2) won 1-0 on an unassisted goal by Blake Fisher. Goalkeeper Brendan McNeel posted the shutout.

Jackson 3, Belleville West 0

JACKSON -- In a physical game, Jackson (10-3-1) came out on top.

Michael Schuette scored the Indians' first goal on an assist from Matt Buttry. Trent Forester scored the second goal on a Schuette assist and a Justin Vines pass set up a goal by Patrick Kohm.

Austin McDowell recorded the shutout in goal.

"I thought our defense played real well," said Jackson coach Zack Walton. "I also thought it was a rough game and it was probably a little closer game than what the score showed. Both teams got a little rough, but we kept our heads in the game and did what we needed to do to win."

Jackson's junior varsity suffered a 2-0 loss.
