LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Just last Saturday, Notre Dame High School's volleyball team knocked off Leopold in two sets to win the Meadow Heights Tournament.

Thursday night, the Lady Wildcats returned the favor with a 15-13, 15-3 victory over the Lady Bulldogs in the final regular-season match for both squads.

Leopold improved its record to 19-7-3 while Notre Dame fell to 17-8-4 as the Lady Bulldogs had an eight-match winning streak snapped.

Kyla Horrell pounded home 19 kills while Holly Jansen added 13 kills to lead Leopold's attack. Jodi VanGennip and Ashley Jansen led the way in digs, with seven and six, while Laura Jansen dished out 12 assists.

Leopold's junior varsity finished at 15-4-3 with a 15-12, 17-15 victory. Notre Dame won the freshmen match 15-6, 15-8.

Jackson 15-15Poplar Bluff 9-11

JACKSON, Mo. -- Jackson boosted its record to 21-8-2 by beating a solid Poplar Bluff squad.

Andrea Koeper had nine kills and 11 digs for the Lady Indians. Kendra Hinkebein had 10 digs; Jessie Koeper added five kills and eight aces; Jenna Leet contributed four kills; and Erin Hartmann recorded nine assists and three service aces.

Jackson's JV ended the year at 19-6-3 with a 15-9, 15-11 victory.

The Lady Indians' varsity will close out the regular season Saturday by hosting Waterloo (Ill.) Gibault.

Meadow Heights 15-15St. Vincent 2-7

PATTON, Mo. -- Meadow Heights wrapped up a sensational regular season by recording its 30th victory against just two defeats.

The Lady Panthers got five kills and two kill-blocks from Jessica Bollinger; four kills, two kill-blocks and two service aces from Holly Boyd; four kills and six digs from Emily Heitman; and six digs and two kill-blocks from Ashley Brune.

"We've had such a good season and we just want to keep it up," said Meadow Heights coach Erin Hoffman, looking ahead to next week's 1A district tournament that her team will host.

Meadow Heights also won the JV match 15-11, 15-13.

Advance 15-15Cape Central 7-8

Advance improved to 22-8-2 and dropped Central to 2-18 as both squads ended their regular seasons.

Dana Williams and Emily Johnson both had six kills for the Lady Hornets. Johnson also had three blocks. Abby Winchester dished out nine assists and Nicole Tropf recorded two service aces.

"We had a very good (regular) season and now we're looking forward to districts," said Advance coach Kimberly Aggertt.

For the Lady Tigers, Sarah Brown had seven service points and three kills while Amy Marchbanks added three kills.

Advance's JV posted a tough 14-16, 16-14, 15-10 victory.

Scott City 16-12-15Oak Ridge 14-15-12

OAK RIDGE, Mo. -- Scott City wound up a successful regular season with a 13-12-4 mark by winning a tight three-setter.

The Lady Rams got 11 kills from Lindsay Baker and five kills from Amanda O'Brien.

Scott City's JV prevailed 15-7, 15-11 to also finish a strong season at 16-9-4.

BOYS SOCCER

Notre Dame 3, Wentzville 0

O'FALLON, Mo. -- Notre Dame captured the consolation title (fifth place) in the St. Dominic Tournament with a shutout victory.

The Bulldogs (15-6-1) got two goals from Tyler Cuba and one from Adam Ralls. Nick Kapfer and Scott Wittenborn recorded assists while goalkeeper Paul Unterreiner recorded the shutout.

Cape Central JV Tournament

In a thrilling championship game, the host Tigers suffered a 5-4 penalty kick shootout loss to Carbondale, Ill.

Neither team scored through 60 minutes of regulation and two five-minute sudden-death overtime periods. Then in the shootout, Central missed just one of its five penalty kicks while Carbondale scored on all five to prevail.

Central's JV now has a 13-2 record.

Jackson captured third place in the tourney with a 3-0 win over Sikeston. Mitchell Casteel scored two goals and Stuart Knowlan added one.

Jackson sweeps Central

JACKSON, Mo. -- Jackson won a pair of games from Cape Central, the ninth grade romping 37-13 and the eighth grade prevailing 20-6.

In the ninth grade game, Central (3-4) got a touchdown on a kick return by Martez Bell and a touchdown pass from Mark Dunaway to Clay Schermann.

Central's eighth grade (3-3) got its TD from Gabe Edwards.

No information was received from Jackson.
