Notes: The Jackson defense looked strong again last Friday, surrendering 12 points to a Parkway North team with two talented runners in its backfield. Those 12 points are the only points Jackson has allowed in its first two weeks of the season. ... On offense, quarterback Marcus Harris, who threw two interceptions in Week 1, cut down on his mistakes and made some nice completions. ... One thing the offense needs to work on is catching the football. Too many passes from Harris went through the hands of receivers. ... Jackson will likely center its attack on the ground, with two of the best tailbacks in the area in Adam Zweigart, who has 33 rushes for 279 yards, and Cody Randen, who has 33 carries for 148 yards.
Crystal City (2-0) at Chaffee (1-1)
Last week: Mountain View Liberty 21, Chaffee 19; Crystal City 34, Orchard Farm 26.
Last year's meeting: Crystal City 43, Chaffee 13.
Notes: Chaffee is coming off a difficult two-point loss last week in which Andrew Hendrix had to re-kick a game-winning field goal because Mountain View Liberty was offside. ... The Red Devils' defense struggled in the first half, allowing 150 yards rushing. But in the second half, adjustments were made and it only surrendered 9 yards on the ground. ... Chaffee coach Charlie Vickery said his team needs to tackle better and be more focused on each play. The Red Devils did get more aggressive in the second half last week to prevent Mountain View from freely running the football. He said once his team starts playing like that from the start, then it will play better. … Chaffee will continue to give handoffs to a variety of running backs. After Week 2, Dylan McAlister leads the team with 20 carries for 117. Steven Atkinson is right behind him with 14 carries for 105 yards.
Blytheville (2-0) at Central (0-2)
Last week: New Madrid County Central 61, Central 16; Blytheville 34, Poplar Bluff 26.
Least year's meeting: Blytheville (Ark.) 41, Central 21.
Notes: Central coach Lawrence Brookins said his team needs to cut down on its turnovers and tackle better to be successful this week against Blytheville. ... The Tigers made some personnel changes for last week's game, which Brookins said worked out. John Ritter moved to the offensive line, Shawn Hammock played at nose guard and Rickien Russell saw action at defensive tackle. ... Quarterback Chase Johnson, who had three turnovers, said he has watched his mistakes on film and has practiced holding onto the football with a tighter grip. ... Brookins said the spirits on his team are high.

Perryville (2-0) at Ste. Genevieve (2-0)
Last week: Perryville 22, De Soto 7; Ste. Genevieve 33, Valle Catholic 6.
Last year's meeting: Ste. Genevieve 22, Perryville 11.
Notes: In the Pirates' first two games this season, the offense has struggled in the first half before returning to form once adjustments were made in the locker room at halftime. ... The Pirates got away with slows starts against Pacific and De Soto, but Ste. Genevieve should be a lot tougher to beat if the offense struggles early. ... The Pirates lost last year to the Dragons, who turned the ball over three times inside its own 38-yard line in the first quarter. Perryville was only able to score three points off of those mistakes. ... Quarterback Josh Perreault only attempted seven passes last week because of wet field conditions and a continuous blitz by the De Soto defense. ... Perryville coach Rick Chastain said his offensive line will need to do a better job of pass blocking. ... The Dragons are a team that will attack both on the ground and through the air. ... Chastain said his defense played more aggressive last week against the run after struggling in that area in Week 1. The unit allowed De Soto 100 yards total -- 88 rushing and 12 passing.
East Prairie (0-2) at Scott City (2-0)
Last week: Scott City 32, Portageville, 0; Corning (Ark.) 35, East Prairie 0.
Last year's meeting: East Prairie 26, Scott City 20
Notes: First-year coach Ronnie Jones said his offense is still learning the new system and needs to iron out some of its kinks this week and do a better job getting timing down on plays. ... Jones said his defense will need to adapt to the East Prairie offense, which is much different from offenses the team faced the previous two weeks, including double tight ends and a full-house backfield. ... East Prairie has more of a spread out offense and the Rams defense might not be able to go with six men up front as it did the previous two weeks. ... East Prairie is focused mainly on the run, throwing only four passes so far this season. ... The Eagles have used three different quarterbacks. ... Cody Carlyle leads the Rams with 25 carries for 143 yards. ... Caleb Estes has completed 11 of his 21 passes for 186 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.
Valle Catholic (0-2)at St. Vincent (1-1)
Last week: Park Hills Central 12, St. Vincent 3; Ste. Genevieve 33, Valle Catholic 6.
Last year's regular-season meeting: St. Vincent 13, Valle 12.
Notes: After coming back in the final minute from a 12-7 deficit in last year's regular-season match-up, St. Vincent beat Valle again the playoffs. ... The two have a heated rivalry. ... Heading into Week 3, Eli Hoeckele leads all Indians runners with 35 carries for 169 yards. ... Justin L'Hote has 9 completions in 26 passing attempts for 90 yards for St. Vincent.
