* Notes: Jackson's running game received a big-time performance from senior Joel Penrod in a win over Roosevelt. Penrod rushed for 190 yards on 38 carries, giving out as many hits as he received. Already under the gun in its first two games, Jackson's secondary will be challenged by Vianney's passing attack. Vianney quarterback Steve Callanan has thrown five touchdown passes in the team's first two games. Tim Windhorst has been on the receiving end of all five passes, with three going for 40 yards or more and another a 29-yard score.

* Notes: East Prairie has lit up opponents for 73 points in its first two games. The Eagles are led by running back Paris Tipler, who scored six touchdowns last weekend while rushing for 375 yards, and accumulating 480 yards of total offense. Scott City's youth is slowly maturing after two straight losses to SEMO South division foes. The Rams did average more than four yards per carry in a loss to Portageville, led by Jonathan Barr's 96 yards on 22 carries. Scott City's passing game has been slow to come around, though, with just eight completions this season.

* Last week's games: Corning (Ark.) 46, Chaffee 6; Crystal City 21, Chester (Ill.) 7
* Notes: Chaffee's porous run defense will receive another tough test with a run-happy Hornets squad coming to town. Crystal City has thrown just nine times in two games. Cody DeRousse leads Crystal City with 264 yards on just 23 carries. Danny James has 213 yards on just 19 carries. Chaffee, which has lost 26 straight games, got torched for more than 400 yards rushing in its season opener.

* Notes: St. Vincent bounced back from an opening week loss to rally past Park Hills Central. Indians quarterback Tim Guilliams rushed for all three scores in the win, including two in the second half to overcome a 14-7 halftime deficit. Potosi has outscored its opponents 67-14 in its first two games. Last year, Potosi dealt the Indians their only loss of the season en route to the Class 1 state championship.

* Notes: Herculaneum, which came into the season ranked No. 1 in the state's Class 3 poll, will be looking to bounce back after an upset loss to Windsor. Mike Sobol leads Herculaneum in both passing and rushing. Perryville showed improvement from an opening shutout loss against Windsor to last week's loss at Fort Zumwalt North.
