The fourth-seeded St. Vincent football team pulled out a 17-8 win over fifth-seeded Crystal City on Friday in the first round of the Class 1 District 1 playoffs in Perryville, Missouri.

The victory improved the Indians to 5-5 on the season while the Hornets wrapped up their season with a 2-8 mark.

St. Vincent will take on Valle Catholic, the top-ranked team in Class 1, on Friday in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. The top-seeded Warriors hammered eighth-seeded Louisiana 70-0 in another quarterfinal.

Mark Twain 48, Chaffee 6

Tyler Elledge rushed for 226 yards and three touchdowns on nine carries, and the second-seeded Tigers scored 41 unanswered points, advancing to the district semifinals with a home win over the Red Devils.

Elledge scored on a 60-yard run to put Mark Twain (10-0) ahead 7-0 in the first quarter before Landon Tenkhoff answered with a 7-yard run at the 2:02 mark of the period, pulling Chaffee (3-7) within a point at 7-6.

Caleb Hirner added 70 yards and three touchdowns on 10 rushes for the Tigers while Terry Monroe contributed 50 yards and a score on eight carries.

Mark Twain will take on sixth-seeded Monroe City in a district semifinal Friday in Center, Missouri. The Panthers defeated host Barat Academy 62-0 in a quarterfinal on Saturday.

CLASS 2 DISTRICT 1

Caruthersville 66, Kelly 20

Quarterback Peyton Faulkner rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns on four carries, and the second-seeded Tigers cruised into the district semifinals with a home win over the seventh-seeded Hawks.

Caruthersville (6-4) scored the first 40 points of the game, including 34 points in the first quarter, to put the game away early. The Tigers led 60-6 at halftime.

Faulkner added a 41-yard touchdown pass to Tyler McCaig and finished the night 5-of-7 passing for 116 yards.

Demarco Slaughter also scored three touchdowns and had 93 yards on just four carries for the Tigers

Kelly (2-8) was held to no rushing yards, but quarterback Kyle Fitzgerald passed for 176 yards on 13-of-27 passing with four interceptions and three touchdowns.

Maurice Davis had 63 yards and a touchdown on six catches for the Hawks while Aaron Graham had two catches for 68 yards and a score.

Caruthersville will face Hayti in a district semifinal on Friday in Caruthersville, Missouri.

Hayti 56, Scott City 21

The third-seeded Indians used a 22-point second quarter to come away with a home win over the sixth-seeded Rams in a district opener.

Braden Cox had 158 yards and two touchdowns on 30 rushes for the Rams. He was also 2-of-5 passing for 30 yards. Scott City finished with 228 yards of total offense, including 198 on the ground.

Hayti, which shut out the Rams in the first and third quarters, led 34-8 at halftime.

The Indians improved to 7-3 on the year while Scott City dropped its final five games of the season and finished at 3-7.

CLASS 4 DISTRICT 1

Farmington 64, Perryville 14

The fourth-seeded Knights racked up 422 yards of total offense in the first half and cruised into the district semifinals with an emphatic home win over the fifth-seeded Pirates.

Quarterback Brandt Busenbark finished 11-of-16 passing for 202 yards and four touchdowns for Farmington (5-5), which forced a running clock with a 50-14 lead at halftime. He also added 119 yards on nine carries.

Brandon Renaud scored on an 80-yard touchdown run for Perryville (5-5), cutting the Knights' lead to 22-7, but Farmington answered with back-to-back touchdowns to build a 36-7 advantage.

Renaud completed 7 of his 29 passes and also scored on a 1-yard run that cut the Pirates' deficit to 36-14 in the second quarter.

The Knights will take on top-seeded Hillsboro in a district semifinal at 7 p.m. Friday in Hillsboro, Missouri. The Hawks beat eighth-seeded Festus 42-21 on Friday in another quarterfinal.
