CAURTHERSVILLE — Caruthersville athletic director Stacy Bradshaw informed the Delta Dunklin Democrat that Friday's game versus Malden has been moved to 7:30 p.m.
In last year's game between the Green Wave and Tigers, Caruthersville waltzed to a 49-14 victory.
Caruthersville scored plenty of points last season, but the Tigers also were generous (31.4 per game scored/36.9 per game allowed).
“They run a spread offense,” Malden head coach Shane Kearbey said. “The coaches have done a great job of maximizing their athletes.”
Kearbey said two players to watch are slot receiver/free safety Jermonte Alexander and Sammy Bryant.
On defense, expect the Tigers to employ a 4-4 alignment using Caruthersville's abundance of speed. Stocky sophomore defensive end Jermaine Caruthers is worth watching.
The Tigers have won the last five games in the series, according to scores shown on the Missouri State High School Activities Association website.
Kearbey understands that this game is not only a contest versus Caruthersville, but also how the Green Wave battle the heat.
Senior quarterback Quamareous Farmer will direct the Green Wave attack. Clay Coleman will be relied upon as a senior leader and offensive lineman.
“I am extremely excited about Friday,” Kearbey added. “Being the head coach has made my situation here way more exciting.”
And Malden will look to begin turning the corner after a pair of woeful campaigns.
