CHAFFEE (2-4) at MALDEN (1-5)

Last week: Chaffee 22, East Prairie 18 (Jeremy Hahn 19 carries, 101 yards, two TDs; Jeremy Dannenmeuller 20 carries, 108 yards); Kennett 28, Malden 20

Last year: Malden 41, Chaffee 14

Chaffee coach Allan Horrell: "The big thing with Malden is you have to contain them and keep them away from the big play. ... Our kids showed a lot of guts by staying in the game last week. East Prairie got up 12-0 and we could've tanked it but we came out in the second half and we were a different team. We responded well from the disappointing loss to Scott City."

Notes: Jeremy Hahn, who was playing with a shoulder injury, is getting closer to 100 percent. But Dannenmueller impressed Horrell and he'll continue to get carries to add balance on offense.

SCOTT CITY (2-4) at HAYTI (6-0)

Last week: Park Hills 46, Scott City 7; Hayti 14, Portageville 6

Last year: Hayti 14, Scott City 6

Scott City coach Stephen O'Brien: "They've got a really good group of kids coming through. They always had good junior high teams and they usually quit playing, but this group has stuck with it. They've been working hard in the weight room and have played together and it's paying off for them. We'll have our hands full. They're definitely capable of big plays. There's two main things we have to do. We have to sustain our blocks. And defensively, we have to do a better job of tackling and get better pursuit angles. ... They'll try to run it at us and pass it too. Last year, they ran the ball with bootleg pass mixed in, but they've got so many athletes this year, they'll throw it up and let their kids go get it or they'll throw it out quick and try to break a tackle."

Notes: Rams linebacker Andrew Estes has 79 tackles so far this year. He is threatening Steve Thomas' school record of 124 tackles set in 1999. Estes is on pace to record about 130 tackles this season. ... Scott City had several players out this week with various illnesses, but everyone should be able to play tonight.

PERRYVILLE (1-5) at WINDSOR (1-5)

Last week: Hillsboro 40, Perryville 0 (Perryville's Jacob Bockman, 11 tackles.); Farmington 47, Windsor 14 (Farmington 364 rushing yards).

Last year: Perryville 17, Windsor 14

Perryville coach Lance Bell: "They're a very good option team. We're actually probably bigger than they are. They may have two guys over 200 pounds and they're a very young team. They're about like us. But this is a must win for us. We need to win this one."

Notes: After having some of their top weapons out for last week's game, the Pirates are back to 100 percent this week. Windsor's only win was over Potosi, 29-20. Ste. Genevieve is the two teams' only common opponent so far. The Dragons defeated Windsor 35-0 and Perryville 34-0.

ST. VINCENT (3-3) at CRYSTAL CITY (2-4)

Last week: Caruthersville 26, St. Vincent 20 (Adam Bockman 17 carries, 125 yards; Matt Zoellner eight solo tackles, five assists); Winfield 25, Crystal City 18 (Crystal City led 18-17 with four minutes to play).

Last year: St. Vincent 35, Crystal City 0

St. Vincent coach Keith Winkler: "They like to run the ball. They're big and physical on both sides of the ball. They also have some nice receivers that if they have to throw the ball, they will. ... We had some missed tackles last week and with the speed Caruthersville's got, they're hard to contain if you miss tackles. We're a pretty young team and we're inconsistent. We've got to stay consistent on game day. We're still learning how to do that."

Notes: Crystal City defeated Fredericktown 18-14 and Rosary 44-8 in the first two weeks, but the Hornets haven't won since. Crystal City uses two running backs, Jeris Moonier and Dane BeRousse.

CHARLESTON (4-2) at EAST PRAIRIE (1-5)

Last week: Charleston 13, Dexter 6 (Dontay Clark had a 99-yard touchdown run, while Orrice Stanback scored from 60 yards out); Chaffee 22, East Prairie 18

Last year: Charleston 24, East Prairie 0

Charleston coach Brent Anderson: "The Dexter win was a good win in not-so-good conditions. We knew going in, it was going to be a back-and-forth game. Winning that game was huge and if we can get the same type effort against East Praire, it will be a real good springboard going into districts. ... We just started playing East Prairie again last year. They play extremely hard and physical. They're afraid of nobody. On film, they move the line of scrimmage. They've got 11 guys who run to the football on defense."

Notes: Charleston standout running back Jordy Mixon is not responding well to an ankle injury he suffered three weeks ago. Last week, he carried the ball only nine times and didn't have his typical explosion. He is somewhat better this week, but still only at 85 percent.

FREDERICKTOWN (2-4) at PARK HILLS (6-0), 7 p.m.

Last week: Ste. Genevieve 48, Fredericktown 21; Park Hills 46, Scott City 7

Last year: Fredericktown 28, Park Hills 8

Notes: Park Hills has had eight players score touchdowns, but no player has more than four. The Rebels are ranked 10th in Class 3A.

SPRINGFIELD HILLCREST (6-0) at POPLAR BLUFF (5-1)

Last week: Columbia Hickman 33, Poplar Bluff 15; Hillcrest 14, Springfield-Glendale 7

Last year: Hillcrest 25, Poplar Bluff 24

Notes: Hillcrest is ranked sixth, while Hickman was ranked for much of the season before dropping out recently.

ROOSEVELT (4-2) at SIKESTON (4-2)

Last week: Sikeston 25, New Madrid 14; Roosevelt 44, Soldan 8

Last year: Sikeston 22, Roosevelt 6

Notes: Last week, the Bulldogs handed the state-ranked Eagles their first regular-season loss since 1999.
