PARK HILLS (5-0) AT SCOTT CITY (2-3)
Last week: Scott City 23, Chaffee 21; Park Hills 27, Cuba 13 (Park Hills had 199 yards rushing but no player had more than 49 yards).
Last year: Park Hills 28, Scott City 19
Scott City coach Stephen O'Brien: "Park Hills is really big up front and they come off the ball well. They've got some big backs who run well and the quarterback may be the fastest kid we'll face this year. We'll try to come out and play some ball and maybe get us an upset. For the most part, they like to come out in a double-tight wishbone and try to run it down your throat. Last year, we were undefeated and state ranked and they handed it to us. Maybe this year we can turn the table and pull off the upset. We've been playing pretty hard the last couple of weeks but we've got a big challenge this week."
Notes: Park Hills is ranked 10th in Class 3A. Scott City tight end Tyler Ward will not play because of a shoulder injury. Jason Umfleet looks to get the bulk of Ward's playing time. Running back Brad Glenn, who has been slowed down by a hip injury, will be closer to 100 percent this week.
DEXTER (3-2) AT CHARLESTON (3-2)
Last week: Charleston 18, Malden 15 (tailback Jordy Mixon sat out with an ankle injury, but fullback Orrice Stanback took his spot and ran for 226 yards); Dexter 41, East Prairie 6 (Matt Burnett rushed for a career-high 254 yards on 17 carries).
Last year: Dexter 42, Charleston 12
Charleston coach Brent Anderson: "Looking at them on film, it shows that they can throw the football real well and they can run the football. The Burnett kid is a special talent. He's such a physical runner."
Notes: Mixon is questionable for tonight's game. Burnett has 797 yards and 10 touchdowns on 120 carries.
HILLSBORO (2-3) AT PERRYVILLE (1-4)
Last week: North County 40, Perryville 6 (Jesse Whistler ran the ball 22 times for 118 yards); Farmington 25, Hillsboro 15
Last year: Hillsboro 50, Perryville 0
Perryville coach Lance Bell: "They're not as big or as good as they were in the past. They lost about 19 starters from last year's team and they're playing with some inexperienced kids up front so hopefully we can run the ball a little bit."
Notes: Perryville wide receiver Kyle Dobbelare hyperextended his elbow and will be out for tonight's game. Another wide receiver, Andrew Yamnitz, is out with a concussion and quarterback Andrew Meyr has been suspended for a game for violating team rules. Sophomore Tyler Stevens will start at quarterback.
STE. GENEVIEVE (4-1) AT FREDERICKTOWN (2-3)
Last week: Herculaneum 28, Fredericktown 7; Ste. Genevieve 41, De Soto 10
Last year: Fredericktown 23, Ste. Genevieve 13
Notes: Ste. Genevieve started the year 3-0 and made it into the state poll for one week before losing to Farmington.
SIKESTON (3-2) AT NEW MADRID CO. CENTRAL (5-0)
Last week: Poplar Bluff 8, Sikeston 6; NMCC 57, Caruthersville 15
Last year: NMCC 45, Sikeston 6
Notes: Sikeston coach Charlie Vickery and New Madrid coach Steve Rogers both played football at Chaffee. New Madrid is ranked fourth in Class 3A.
POPLAR BLUFF (5-0) AT HICKMAN (4-1)
Last week: Poplar Bluff 8, Sikeston 6;
Last year: Hickman 42, Poplar Bluff 21
Notes: Poplar Bluff's Michael Crunk leads the area with 806 passing yards.
CHAFFEE (1-4) AT EAST PRAIRIE (1-4)
Last week: Scott City 23, Chaffee 21; Dexter 41, East Prairie 6
Last year: Chaffee 20, E. Prairie 6
Chaffee coach Allan Horrell: "We're upbeat and positive and felt we should've won last week. We came out Monday and focused on East Prairie. We really had a good week of practice. I know they're much improved and they improve every week. They've had some key injuries so they're Band-Aid-ed together like we are. I look for a good ballgame."
Notes: Chaffee running back Jeremy Hahn has been rehabilitating a shoulder he injured against Portageville. He was clearly not running at 100 percent last week, Horrell said. Hahn will play, but fullback Jeremy Dannenmueller will carry some of Hahn's burden this week.
SATURDAY'S GAME
CARUTHERSVILLE (0-5) AT ST. VINCENT (3-2), 1:30 P.M.
Last week: St. Pius 21, St. Vincent 0 (St. Vincent only had 71 yards of offense and St. Pius had less than 129); NMCC 57, Caruthersville 15
Last year: St. Vincent 24, Caruthersville 0
St. Vincent coach Keith Winkler: "I know they're very quick in the backfield and we're coming off a disappointing loss so we'll see how we rebound. We just couldn't put anything together last week and we looked like we weren't ready to play. Hopefully we won't repeat it."
Notes: Two interceptions doomed St. Vincent last week. One was returned for a touchdown and the other was returned to the 5. The Indians punted nine times and had only eight going into the game.
