J.J. Henry birdied a tournament-record seven holes in a row en route to a 10-under-par 61 Friday and a four-stroke lead halfway through the FBR Open.

The 30-year-old from Fairfield, Conn., was one stroke off the tournament-record round of 60, and he bettered his previous career-best round by three strokes. His string of birdies on the ninth through 15th holes fell one shy of the PGA Tour record of eight in a row.

Never a winner on the PGA Tour, Henry was at 14-under-par 128 through 36 holes at the TPC of Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Tour-rookie J.B. Holmes, 22, shot a 7-under 64 and was four back at 10-under 132. First-round co-leader Steve Lowery and Paul Stankowski were at 9-under 131.

Mark Calcavecchia, a three-time winner of what used to be called the Phoenix Open, tied with David Toms and Ryan Palmer at 8-under 132.

Defending champion Phil Mickelson double-bogeyed his final hole, the par-4 ninth, to fall to 7-under 131.

Dubai Desert Classic

Tiger Woods shot a 6-under 66 to trail the co-leaders by two shots, yet he still wasn't happy with his second round at the Dubai Desert Classic in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Retief Goosen of South Africa shot a 67 and Danish journeyman Anders Hansen made nine birdies for a 63 to share the lead at 13-under 131.

Woods found the water twice for a bogey and double bogey to tie for second with Nick Dougherty (66) and Richard Green (69) at 11 under.

"Frustrating," Woods said. "You know me, I hate dropping shots. Especially when you have a good round going like that."

Defending champion Ernie Els was three shots off the lead after a 66. By making his 70th straight cut on the European tour, he broke Bernhard Langer's record of 69.

ANZ Ladies Masters

Teenage amateur Amy Yang shot a 6-under 66 in the second round Friday to take a one-stroke lead at the midway point of the ANZ Australian Ladies Masters in Gold Coast, Australia.

Yang, a 16-year-old high school student, was at 9-under 135 through two rounds at Royal Pines, one stroke better than first-round leader Mhairi McKay of Scotland.
