The Heartland Nationals 12-and-under girls softball team fell to 0-3 in pool play at the Babe Ruth World Series being played in Cherry Hills, N.J.
Heartland surrendered four runs in the fourth inning Sunday and lost 4-1 to Henderson, N.C.
The Nationals scored their only run in the sixth inning. They finished the game with just two hits -- none against winning pitcher Jessica Rowland, who threw the first three innings.
One of the two hits for Heartland was a triple by Brooke Glastetter. Danielle Dock had the other hit. Kaitlin Glastetter scored Heartland's lone run with an RBI for Amanda Williams.
Danielle Gibbons took the loss. She allowed five hits over six innings with just two earned runs of the four she surrendered.
Heartland's remaining pool game is 1:30 p.m. today with Concord, Calif., which is 0-2 in pool play with two games remaining.
