Scott City graduate Loren Groves continued her sensational sophomore indoor track and field campaign at Kansas State by capturing the Big 12 crown in the weight throw at the Big 12 indoor championship held Feb. 23 and 24 in Ames, Iowa.
Groves captured the title with a throw of 67 feet, 10 3/4 inches. It was her third-best throw of the indoor season. Groves' top throw is 68-3 3/4, which is good enough for fourth in the nation.
At Scott City, Groves finished with 15 all-state medals, including three state titles. Groves still holds the state record in Class 2 in the discus at 151 feet, seven inches, which she set her senior year.
