Get ready for another action-packed week of high school football as the anticipation builds for the upcoming matchups. From intense rivalries to standout players, this week’s games promise to deliver more unforgettable moments.

__Kennett (2-0) at Sikeston (0-2)__

The Bulldogs look to snap a five-game losing streak to the Indians.

The last time Sikeston tasted victory in the series was in a thrilling 37-30 overtime win back in 2017. The Bulldogs will be looking to channel that past success and come out on top.

This season, Sikeston finds itself adapting to a new offensive approach with the implementation of the wing T formation. As they continue to adjust, Sikeston’s offense aims to find its rhythm and exploit the strengths of the new strategy.

On the other side, Kennett has had a strong start to the season, having its first two games by an impressive combined margin of 91-20. With their early success, the Indians emerge as the likely favorite in this matchup.

However, Sikeston represents Kennett’s toughest challenge thus far this season.

The top players to watch for the Bulldogs are running backs Trez Clark (21 carries for 105 yards and a touchdown), Keodrick Sherrod (27 carries for 68 yards) and Keane Atkins (eight carries for 74 yards).

Kennett’s top players to look out for are running back Marquiese Pittman (27 carries for 251 yards and five touchdowns) and quarterback Tyquavious Jones (20-of-28 for 380 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions).

__East Prairie (1-1) at Portageville (1-1)__

In an exciting matchup, the Eagles are on the road against the Bulldogs for a showdown that promises to be an intriguing battle.

Portageville enters the game with the upper hand, having emerged victorious in the past two meetings, including a 72-20 win last season. However, prior to that, East Prairie had won two consecutive games in the series, making it an evenly-matched contest in the team’s last four meetings.

Portageville showcased a potent rushing attack with running back Jamarion Smith and quarterback Mason Adams. Smith has rushed 48 times for 383 yards and 10 touchdowns already this season, proving he has an innate ability to find the end zone.

The Bulldogs’ ability to dominate on the ground has been a key factor in their recent success, and they will look to continue that trend in this matchup.

Meanwhile, East Prairie has shown significant improvement this season compared to the previous year. The Eagles have demonstrated growth and development, making them a more competitive force on the field.

With, this positive trajectory, East Prairie enters the game with renewed confidence and the desire to make a statement.

In addition to Smith and Adams, who also contribute on defense, Portageville’s top players to watch are receivers Aaron Dunlap, Carson Bradley, Beau-Hunter Warren and linemen Connor Jefferies and AJ Larry.

East Prairie’s players to watch are Swiss Army Knife, Conner Marcum, backs Tavion Ware, Braylan Cade and quarterback Ty Wallace.

However, the team has faced challenges in the form of slow starts this season, finding themselves trailing in both of their games. Despite these deficits, NMCC showcased resilience and managed to overcome their second-half struggles to secure victories.
