MALDEN — The Malden Green Wave had a happy homecoming as they defeated Portageville 50-44.
“It was one of the toughest games of the season,” Malden coach Mike Kilgore said. “We didn’t want our homecoming spoiled, so the boys fought hard to secure the win.”
Payton Woodard (13 points) and Quamareous Farmer (12) led Malden to victory.
Clarkton 59, Scott County Central 43
At Clarkon, Owen Morgan scored his 1,000th career points and had a team-high 25 points to lead the Clarkton to a 59-43 win over the Scott County Central Braves Friday night.
Bryant Redden added 12 points for the victorious Reindeer, while Amauri Gorman added 10 for Clarkton.
Bernie 73, Puxico 51
At Puxico, the host Indians fell to rival Bernie.
“We are having a hard time guarding, but credit the teams we have played this week,” Puxico coach Bryant Fernetti said. “All are very tough. We will be a better team for playing them this week.”
The Indians were led by Thomas Burch (15 points) and Duncan Crabb (11).
Woodland 84, Bloomfield 54
At Marble Hill, the host Cardinals routed Bloomfield, taking an 18-point lead by the end of the opening period.
Bloomfield was paced by Caleb Upchurch (16 points), Lucas Dowdy (15) and Hunter Moore (12).
Girls
Alton 57, Naylor 28
At Alton, the visiting Lady Eagles lost big to the Comets.
Chloe Mitchell (12 points) and Harley Sullivan (11) led Naylor.
