HILLSBORO -- Fourteen "free points," as Chaffee coach Brian Horrell lamentedly described them, gave Grandview a 14-13 win over the visiting Red Devils Friday.
After scoring on a 93-yard kickoff return, Grandview won the game in the third quarter on a 15-yard scoring run after the center had launched the snap 20 yards through the legs of the Grandview quarterback.
Chaffee junior Tommy Stidham had touchdown runs of 24 yards in the second quarter to make the score 6-0, and of 32 yards in the third to give the Red Devils the lead. Stidham rushed 17 times for 102 yards.
Although quarterback Matt Graham had a "great game," Horrell said, he was hampered by his receivers' dropping passes. Graham completed 3-of-15 attempts for 60 yards.
Chaffee held Grandview to 85 yards rushing on 32 carries.
Scott City 39, Malden 12
SCOTT CITY -- Behind three rushing touchdowns Friday from junior Matt Underwood, Scott City conquered the first phase of its drive to establish "top dog" status in area Class 2A football.
Scott City coach Terry Flannigan had said the Rams' games against Malden and 2A foe Portageville next week would test his team's mettle and determine which of the three would emerge as "top dog."
The Rams' Brandon Amick had a scoring catch, and Jason Bickings returned a punt for a touchdown.

Perryville 21, Farmington 0
PERRYVILLE -- Perryville quarterback Derek Cattoor exercised the option for two touchdowns and 126 yards rushing Friday as the Pirates avenged last year's district loss to Farmington in dominant fashion.
Perryville led 13-0 after one quarter. Halfback Matt Jenkins sped 15 yards down the right side for a score with 7:19 left in the period. Cattoor then found the endzone on a 4-yard burst 46 seconds before the second quarter.
Cattoor, on a 35-yard run, struck again with 3:38 remaining in the third quarter. Cattoor's two-point conversion pass to Wade Weibrecht made the score 21-0.
Cattoor gained the 126 yards on six carries. He also was 3-for-7 passing for 35 yards.
Jenkins rushed for 54 yards, Andy Haertling 48 yards and Joel Heuring 36 yards out of the Pirates' wishbone.
Three interceptions helped Perryville hold Farmington scoreless. "We played really well defensively," said Pirates coach Jerry Tucker. "We played well up front."
