Last week: Annika Sorenstam won the ShopRite Classic, her sixth victory in 12 LPGA Tour starts this year. Carin Koch, Kate Golden and Juli Inkster tied for second, three strokes back.

Notes: Sorenstam won the 1995 tournament at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo., and successfully defended her title in 1996 at Pine Needles. The Swedish star tops the money list with $1,534,054. LPGA Championship winner Se Ri Pak is second with $710,806. ... Lorena Ochoa is coming off a Futures Tour victory in Ann Arbor, Mich., her second win in five events since turning pro after her sophomore season at Arizona. The 20-year-old Mexican star set an NCAA record with eight victories this season, won the Mexican Open and has two top-10 finishes in three LPGA Tour starts. ... Dottie Pepper shot 75-75 last week to miss the cut in her first tournament since having surgery on her left shoulder in February. ... Nancy Lopez, playing her final full season, received a special exemption from the USGA. ... Juli Inkster won the 1980 U.S. Women's Amateur at Prairie Dunes, and Amy Fruhwirth took the 1991 event at the course. ... The 2003 tournament will be played at Pumpkin Ridge in Oregon. ... The tour will be in Ohio the next two weeks for the Jamie Farr Kroger Classic and Giant Eagle LPGA Classic.

Last week: Len Mattiace won the St. Jude Classic for his second victory of the year, closing with a 64 to overcome a seven-stroke deficit. Tim Petrovic finished second, a stroke back.

Notes: Tiger Woods, the 1997 and 1999 winner, is making his first start since winning the U.S. Open. He tied for 20th last year, 13 strokes behind Hoch. ... The tournament ends the race for British Open spots through a special money list made up of The Players Championship and the last five PGA Tour events. The top seven and ties not otherwise exempt, limited to 25th place and lower, will earn spots in the July 18-21 tournament at Muirfield. After those qualifiers have been determined, the top eight finishers in the Western Open not otherwise exempt will receive spots. ... Last year: Walter Hall won his first tour title after six runner-up finishes, beating Ed Dougherty on the first hole of a playoff in Mississauga, Ontario.

Last week: Don Pooley won the U.S. Senior Open, holing a 10-foot birdie putt on the fifth hole of a playoff with Tom Watson. Pooley is the first qualifier to win the tournament.
