Jacob Wente allowed four runs, two earned, over three innings to suffer the loss for the Plaza Tire Capahas on Wednesday.

The St. Louis Golden Spikes struck for two in the second and two in the third and never looked back, posting the 5-2 home win.

Brad LaBruyere went the next three innings and allowed one run on three hits and struck out three. Jason Chavez pitched the final two innings. He struck out one and walked one.

The Capahas scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

Dustin Hunter recorded the Capahas' lone run batted in.

Hunter, Blake Gaddis, Josh Eftink, Jamie McAllister and LaBruyere all had one hit in the loss.

The Golden Spikes finished with nine hits.

The Capahas, who dropped to 14-7, will return to action in the Valmeyer, Ill., tournament Saturday.
