Scott City (5-3) at Crystal City (7-1)

Notes: Crystal City features a two-headed running attack, let by Demetrius Terry. He's rushed for 1,498 yards this season and averages over 8 yards per carry. He's scored 15 TDs. DJ Sullivan has gained 841 yards on the ground and has seven TDs, according to stltoday.com. Crystal City's lone loss came to undefeated Maplewood. "They like to run first," Scott City coach Ronnie Jones said. "But last week they went through the air to win the game against St. Pius. It was set up by their good, hard running." The Rams will have their hands full. It's likely to come down to Scott City's defense, which will have to smother the Hornets' running attack. The Rams have allowed 17.5 points per game and the defense has shined in the victories. They'll need another outstanding effort tonight.
Jackson (8-0) at Parkway West (5-3)
Last week: Jackson 21, Eureka 20; Parkway West 42, Seckman 0.
Last year's meeting: Parkway West 29, Jackson 7.
Notes: Jackson coach Carl Gross said before last week that it was vital for the Indians to win each of their three district games to make the playoffs. And after an emotional victory over Eureka last Friday as the underdogs, the Indians have one down and two to go. But they will face another big test tonight at Parkway West (5-3), last year's district champ. The Longhorns are led by quarterback Blaine Gabbert, who has received scholarship offers from numerous Division I-A football programs, including Missouri. Gabbert has been injured the past few weeks and it is uncertain whether he'll play against Jackson. His younger brother, Tyler Gabbert, has filled in nicely, completing 31-of-57 pass attempts for 437 yards. The eldest Gabbert completed 45-of-102 passes for 614 yards before getting injured. The Longhorns' run game is led by Keenen Maddox, who has carried the ball 90 times for 520 yards. The Jackson offense is led by Adam Zweigart, who will play after X-rays taken of his injured right arm came back negative. Zweigart leads the teams with 134 carries for 1,130 yards. He averages 8.4 yards per carry and 141.3 per game. Cody Randen has also helped the run game, adding 91 carries for 481 yards. He averages 5.3 yards per carry. Quarterback Marcus Harris has completed 37-of-81 pass attempts for 494 yards. He has eight touchdown passes and six interceptions. Matt Lang has 12 catches for 230 yards. Jackson moved to No. 2 in the Missouri sportswriters and sportscasters' Class 5 poll, behind only 7-0 Kirkwood.
Central (1-7) at West Plains (3-5)
Last week: Poplar Bluff 35, Cape Central 0; West Plains 69, Sikeston 34.
Last week: Central 34, West Plains 31.
Notes: Central will play its second district game today against a West Plains squad that blew out Sikeston last week. Tigers coach Lawrence Brookins said even after a 1-7 start and a 35-point loss in the first round of districts to Poplar Bluff, his team is not giving up. West Plains has good size up front and runs a spread offense similar to the Tigers, Brookins said. The Central offense is led by quarterback Chase Johnson, who has completed 80-of-147 passes for 805 yards. He has three touchdown tosses but has been picked four times. Cantrell Andrews leads the Tigers' rushing attack with 80 carries for 496 yards. Derek Walker has added 329 rushing yards on 47 carries.

Chaffee (5-3) at Hayti (8-0)
Last week: Chaffee 13, St. Vincent 10; Hayti 55, Portageville 14.
Last year's meeting: Hayti 22, Chaffee 6.
Notes: Chaffee won its district opener over St. Vincent, but faces a more difficult challenge this week against an Hayti squad that is ranked No. 3 in Class 1. Hayti, which recently boosted its offense with the addition of former Central wide receiver George Hamilton III, defeated Scott City 43-7 two weeks ago. Chaffee features a run-orientated offense. Jerrod Steger leads the Red Devils with 405 yards rushing on 97 carries, quarterback Andrew Hendrix has 315 yards rushing on 86 carries and Dylan McAlister has 339 yards rushing on 71 carries. Hendrix has also added 547 yards passing, completing 39-of-101 attempts. He has five touchdown tosses but has been intercepted four times. Steger has 13 catches for 268 yards. Defensively, McAlister has 60 tackles and Michael Spies has 58 tackles and five sacks. The Hayti running game is led by Jerome Covington with 732 yards rushing on 86 carries. Indians quarterback Shaun Jones has completed 46-of-103 passes for 990 yards.
Perryville (3-5) at New Madrid County (6-1)
Last week: Dexter 14, Perryville 7; New Madrid County 55, Kennett 14.
Last year's meeting: New Madrid County 15, Perryville 12.
Notes: After a 3-0 start, the Pirates have lost five straight games. New Madrid County Central has not lost since Sept. 14. Since that defeat, New Madrid has outscored its opponents 185-47. Perryville is led by running back Kris Cottner, who has 162 carries for 874 yards. He averages 5.4 yards per carry and 109.3 yards per game. He has five rushing touchdowns. Perryville quarterback Josh Perreault has added 408 yards rushing on 77 carries. He has scored eight rushing touchdowns. Perreault also has completed 57-of-117 passes for 611 yards. He has four touchdown tosses but has been intercepted eight times.
Portageville (0-7) at St. Vincent (3-5)
Last week: Chaffee 13, St. Vincent 10; Hayti 55, Portageville 14.
Last year's meeting: St. Vincent 34, Portageville 6.
Notes: St. Vincent suffered a district loss last week against Chaffee and will look to rebound this week when it plays winless Portageville, a program that has not won a game since Oct. 14, 2005. St. Vincent could muster only 120 yards on offense last week, when it suffered its first loss to Chaffee since 1993. The Indians had just 13 yards of offense and no first downs over the final two quarters, running just 15 plays. The Indians must play better on offense and stop time-consuming drives on defense.
