Brevin Giebler of Cape Girardeau saw his run at the 2015 men's Missouri Amateur golf tournament end in the quarterfinals of match play as the top-seed lost to Teddy Jones on Saturday at Buffalo Ridge Golf Course in Hollister, Missouri.

Jones, the eighth-seed from Wildwood, Missouri, prevailed 3 and 2 to advance to a semifinal match against Mitchell Mather of Lebanon, Missouri, who defeated Gabe Wheeler of Sikeston, Missouri, 2 and 1 in a quarterfinal match.

The 39-year-old Giebler earned the top seed in the 64-man match-play field for the second time in four years earlier in the week and went on to win his first three matches before falling to Jones.

Giebler shot 68 on Tuesday and 67 on Wednesday to tie with Wayne Frederick of Springfield, Missouri, for the stroke-play medalist at 135.

Giebler opened match play Thursday with a 2-up win over Greg Sanborn of Ellisville, Missouri. On Friday, Giebler defeated Griffen Locke of Joplin, Missouri, 2 and 1 in the second-round morning matches. In the afternoon he posted a 2-1 victory over Alex Ciaramitaro of St. Peters, Missouri, to reach the quarterfinals.

Giebler previously had been the top seed in 2012, when he reached the Missouri Amateur semifinals at Dalhousie Golf Club.
