Southeast Missouri freshman Nikole Novikova was named to the all-Ohio Valley Conference second team for women's tennis Thursday. Voting was done by the league's coaches.
Novikova, a native of Bellevue, Wash., went 7-10 overall and 3-5 in the OVC at No. 1 singles this year. Her seven victories led the Redhawks and ranked fourth in the conference. Novikova also recorded four wins in doubles play, including two at the No. 1 spot and two at the No. 2 position.
Novikova is the first Southeast tennis player to garner all-conference honors in two years.
"I thought Nikole had a very good year, especially for a freshman," Southeast coach Mark Elliott said. "To make the all-conference team is a really nice honor for her and I think she deserves it."
