PARK HILLS -- An 11-0 run to close out the first quarter gave Perryville's girls an 11-3 lead entering the second quarter.

But from there the Lady Pirates couldn't hit from the free-throw line, and top-seeded Fredericktown won the Class 3A, District 2 championship game at Park Hills Friday 49-43.

Perryville ended its season at 20-9. Fredericktown (19-4) will play Kennett Wednesday at Poplar Bluff H.S. in a sectional game.

"When (Fredericktown) got a lead, they didn't miss their free throws. We missed seven in the second quarter and that hurt us," said Wunderlich.

Perryville led 19-15 at halftime and Fredericktown had 17 turnovers in the first half.

Fredericktown outscored the Lady Pirates 46-32 in the final three quarters. An 8-0 run early in the fourth quarter stretched a 31-30 lead to 39-30.

For Fredericktown, Lindsey Merrill had 11 points and Kristen Tripp added 10. Perryville's lone double digit scorer was Cicely Guth (10 points).

Perryville's Renee Kaempfe, a 6-foot junior, was in foul trouble all game and fouled out.
