KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Detroit Tigers acquired right-hander Chris Lambert from St. Louis on Thursday as the player to be named later completing the trade of left-hander Mike Maroth.
Lambert, who appeared in both Class AA and Class AAA in the Cardinals system this year, was assigned to Class AAA Toledo.
In five starts at Class AA Springfield, he was 0-2 with a 3.42 ERA. He was 1-4 with a 7.49 ERA in 28 appearances, including four starts, with Class AAA Memphis. He was a first-round selection by the Cardinals in the 2004 draft.
Maroth, 0-4 with an 11.08 ERA in eight games with the Cardinals, has been on the disabled list since Aug. 6 with mild elbow tendinitis.
