Malden senior Romello McCoy carried the ball 30 times and racked up 273 yards to lead the Green Wave to a 36-26 home victory over Scott City on Friday night.

McCoy scored twice on runs of 54 and 6 yards in the first half and again on a 1-yard run in the second half.

Scott City recovered a Malden fumble with just over six minutes left in the game and senior running back Travis Phillips ran in from 4 yards out with 2 minutes, 14 seconds remaining to bring the Rams within 10 points, but a two-point conversion attempt failed and Malden sealed the victory by recovering an onside kick a few moments later.

Scott City scored first when quarterback Jonathan McFall connected with tight end Ryan Fortner for a 24-yard touchdown in the first quarter. McFall connected on the PAT to put the Rams up 7-0 before Malden scored 30 unanswered points before the break.

McFall opened the scoring in the second half with a 2-yard touchdown run and later connected with Fortner for another score, this time on an 8-yard pass.

McFall, a senior, completed 14 of his 25 passes in the game for 193 yards. Fortner finished with three catches that totaled 50 yards while Brett Dirnberger caught five passes for 76 yards.

Phillips rushed 27 times for 123 yards for Scott City.
