The Chaffee football team remained undefeated with a road win at East Prairie on Friday.

The Red Devils (6-0) trailed early before eventually beating the Eagles (1-5) 54-32.

East Prairie opened the scoring and led 6-0 after the first quarter before Chaffee replied with 34 points in the second period to take a 34-14 lead into halftime.

Charlie Montgomery scored to open the second quarter for Chaffee on a 1-yard run. His brother Peyton Montgomery took care of the rest of the scoring in the quarter, rushing for three touchdowns -- 2, 1 and 56 yards -- and throwing another to wide receiver Layton Tenkhoff.

Peyton Montgomery completed 15 of 24 passes for 166 yards and threw for two touchdowns while being intercepted once. He also rushed for 143 yards on 14 attempts.

Devon Yahn caught a 14-yard touchdown pass for the Red Devils in the third quarter, and Charlie Montgomery added two more rushing touchdowns in the second half to complete Chaffee's scoring.

Charlie Montgomery finished with 100 yards rushing on 10 attempts, while Jimmy Golden had 106 rushing yards on nine attempts. Tenkhoff caught eight passes for 81 yards.

Yahn led the Red Devils defense with 16 tackles and also intercepted a pass.

Chaffee finished with 560 yards of offense, including 394 on the ground, and possessed the ball for just 19 minutes, 33 seconds. East Prairie had the ball for nearly nine more minutes than the Red Devils and produced 299 yards offense.

The Red Devils will host Malden (5-1) on Friday. The winner will claim the SEMO South Conference title.

Portageville 33, Scott City 14

The Scott City football team dropped to 1-5 with a home loss to Portageville.

The Rams led 6-0 after the first quarter after freshman quarterback Braden Cox ran in from 2 yards out.

Portageville tied the game in the second quarter when Ben Story scored a touchdown on a 61-yard run.

The teams remained tied 6-6 at halftime, but Portageville outscored the Rams 21-0 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

Scott City added a score in the fourth quarter when Cox connected with Zach Carlyle for a touchdown and then with Isiah Berry for a two-point conversion.

Cox completed 12 of 22 passes for 34 yards and threw three interceptions. Zach Carlyle had seven receptions for 98 yards.

Dominic Hooper and Dalton Goforth had five tackles each for the Rams, who have lost three straight.

Scott City will face Hayti on the road on Friday.

St. Vincent 40, Crystal City 24

The Indians improved to 4-2 with a road win at Crystal City (1-5).

St. Vincent, which has won its last three games, will host St. Pius on Friday.

Ste. Genevieve 67, Perryville 0

Perryville (2-4) was shut out at home by the Dragons (4-2).

The loss was the fourth consecutive for Perryville.

The Pirates will travel to state-ranked Park Hills Central on Friday.
