50 into overtime gave the Calgary Flames a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night.
Calgary won in overtime for the second time in two nights. The Flames broke a two-game losing streak Wednesday with a 3-2 victory at Dallas.
Phaneuf fired a shot past Chris Mason, who made 27 straight saves after giving up an early goal to Jarome Iginla. Phaneuf, a defenseman, has six goals this season. Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 30 shots.
Lars Eller scored the lone Blues goal while playing in his first NHL game.
Eller, the No. 13 pick in the 2007 draft, deflected in a shot from the point by defenseman Erik Johnson. The third-period, power-play goal snapped the Blues' home-ice scoring drought of 171 minutes, 5 seconds. St. Louis had failed on 26 straight power-play opportunities.
Eller is the 12th Blues player to score in his NHL debut. He found the net at 7:15 on his third shot.
Iginla put Calgary up 1-0 early in the first period with his team-high seventh goal, scoring on an unassisted breakaway. Mason got a piece of the puck but it trickled across the goal line. It was Iginla's third goal in two games.
