Five local high school seniors recently were named to the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association 2012-2013 Academic All-State Team.

Jackson's Luke Stevens and Danielle Daume, Scott City's Ryan Brock and Nick Bollinger, and Chaffee's Ellie Sigman were selected to the team.

The MBCA considered nominated players that met the following qualifications: seniors who started 90 percent of their teams' games or played in 75 percent of the total team quarters played; outstanding moral character; an ACT score of at least 27 or an SAT score of at least 1,920 or a PSAT score of 185 or higher; and a grade point average of at least 3.25 out of a possible 4.0 (or equivalent on alternate scale).

The student athletes will be honored at a banquet April 28 at Drury University in Springfield, Mo.
