The Saxony Lutheran girls soccer team had five players named first-team all-state, selected by coaches, and swept the top individual honors in Class 1 after recently winning the state championship in Kansas City, Missouri.
Juniors Grace Mirly, Logan Meyr and Raegan Wieser all pulled in elite honors for the Crusaders, who finished with a 24-2 record.
Mirly, a midfielder/forward who scored 34 goals and assisted on 11 others, was named the player of the year. Meyr, the co-defensive player of the year, and Wieser, goalkeeper of the year, led a stingy defense that recorded 17 shutouts, including two in the final four. Wieser allowed just 14 goals on the season while making 99 saves.
Junior defender Tayla Meyr and junior midfielder Brianna Mueller, who had 15 goals and 18 assists, also were first-team selections.
Junior forward Ali Galemmo and junior midfielder Tess Daniel were second-team selection for the Crusaders, while freshman Laurel Mueller was honorable mention.
St. Vincent had three players honored, with sophomore midfielder Faith Kapp earning first-team status, junior defender Emily Welker being selected second team and freshman midfielder Corin Carrol being named honorable mention.
Kelly freshman midfielder Hailey Noon also was honorable mention in Class 1.
In Class 4, Jackson senior forward Jordan Nelson was selected second-team all-state. Nelson, who will play next year at Southeast Missouri State, recorded 21 goals and 17 assists.
In Class 3, Central senior Abby Shupert was named honorable mention.
Perryville had two players selected honorable mention in Class 2, with senior defender Brooke Moll and senior midfielder Alex Spears being recognized.
