Natalie Sago preserved Farmington's win against Notre Dame on Wednesday night with her block of Brooke Beussink's 3-point shot in the closing seconds.

That play helped Farmington (25-3 and ranked No. 5 in the Class 4 state poll) post its first state playoff victory in school history.

Beussink had hit two 3-pointers earlier in the game for the Bulldogs (18-9), including one that tied the score at 42-42 in the fourth quarter.

Meridith Medlin (19 points) and Kristain Burger (17 points, 12 rebounds) helped Notre Dame keep pace as the teams went to a 46-46 tie.

Farmington stretched its lead to 53-48 before Notre Dame charged back. Medlin converted a three-point play and then hit two free throws with 12.6 seconds remaining.

Syndey Winslow, who scored 24 points to lead Farmington, hit two free throws to push the lead back to three before Sago's block on Beussink.
