Pardon our French

GOOD THING we don't expect sports people to be good at foreign languages. Au revoire? But why try if the result is going to be so laughable?

(Au revoir was spelled incorrectly in Thursday's edition. We regret the error.)

Need more participation

THE TV and newspapers talk about Chaffee sports not being competitive. The problem is the nonparticipation. Why the attitude has changed in recent years is unknown. Chaffee used to be competitive in most every sport and had many alumni play collegiate and professional sports.

Coverage complaint

I HAVE a complaint about how the press handles the sports pages (especially girls sports). I think that it is very wrong for the newspaper to have big articles about Notre Dame, other big schools and football. I would love to see some interviews with some volleyball players, cross country runners or one of their coaches. What about the small schools (Zalma, Woodland, Oak Ridge, Meadow Heights). Some of the small schools are having a great year, and yet no big article or picture in the paper about them. Some of these small schools have a great chance of winning their districts, and no one even knows about it. I have seen every one of these girls' volleyball games, and never once have I seen a photographer or good article about the team. These girls do a great job, beating big schools and rivals. Please reward the small schools.

A new field

I THINK it's a shame the city of Jackson will not support the JAYF program by building them decent fields. The city has no problem ensuring it has plenty of soccer fields but will not allow the football teams to use them or the park. Instead, these kids have to play on uneven fields at the middle school. For a town that thrives on football this is a shame. I urge everyone this affects to call Jackson City Hall and let them know what you think. Let's get these kids a quality place to play.

Play the reserves

TO ALL of our coaches: Would it be too much to ask to play all players who come to all practices and games when the score is 14-2 or more, or does it make you look better with a bigger score?
